This is a set departure trip offered on the following dates:
18 Nov – 05 Dec 2019
09 Mar – 26 Mar 2020
High Places are well established in Patagonia. We have worked with our long time colleagues based in El Chalten and Santiago since (we can hardly believe it) 1990.
On this Patagonia trek we cover two of the most magnificent mountain areas in the world: Las Torres del Paine – the Towers of Paine (Chile) and the Fitzroy Massif in Los Glaciares National Park (Argentina).
Dwarfed by granite cliffs and spires rising 2600 metres above us we first make a five day trek around lakes, through native beech forests and over bare mountainsides. At one time we also across a glacier between the magnificent Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitzroy range. The trek ends on a high viewpoint over the Patagonian ice cap, the largest continental ice field outside of the Poles.
Next into Chile and the Paine National Park, best known for its vertical granite marvels. We trek the ‘W’ trail with hiking forays up the spectacular side valleys – Ascensio, Frances and Grey – for close up views of some of the wildest scenery in South America.
This trip is 18 days ex El Calafate. The first and last days here refer to the days of arrival and departure from Calafate and may not be the days you depart from or arrive back home. Note that the flights to and from El Calafate are not included and should be arranged in conjunction with your international flights.
