Nature and Heritage of Caucasus

FROM £ 1250

Caucasus is one of the most ethically diverse regions in the world and hosts some of the most beautiful scenery. Travelling through Armenia and Georgia you will explore the incredible heritage of the region, visiting historic churches, monasteries and temples.

Start your adventure in Georgia and visit Gergeti Trinity Church (and enjoy the amazing view of Mt. Kazbeg), Sulphar baths and Narikala fortress of the 4th century. We also suggest taking a sightseeing tour of Tbilisi – an extraordinary, elegant city that holds much history.

Once in Armenia, you will have the chance to see some of the world’s most beautiful UNESCO listed heritage sites including the Geghard, Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries. Taking a walk from Lake Parz (1350m) will lead you through thick forest where you can find birch and oak trees and wide meadows and enjoy the beautiful scenery opening towards Ijevan Mountain Range. From the beautiful meadow descend to the village of Gosh where Goshavank monastery is beautifully nestled. Continue hiking through canyons to reach even more fascinating sights such as the Symphony of Stones. This is one of the geological wonders not to be missed.

You can also get the incredible chance to experience a specially organised lunch with an Armenian rural family. The hosting family will also perform a master class of Armenian traditional barbecue making. The group may take part in preparing/cooking these old and delicious food/meals in traditional Armenian way.

Finally, end your trip with a Yerevan City tour which will take you to a high-scale view point over the city plus museums and more UNESCO heritage sites.

Excursions:

There is also an optional Yerevan Brandy Factory exclusively guided excursion. ARARAT brandies are legendary, embodying Armenia, its cultural and historical heritage. Today it’s one the most famous and successful brand in Armenia as well as worldwide. Only local varieties of grape with special properties are used in the production of an authentic Armenian brandy, based on the unique microclimate of the Ararat Valley.
