Trekking in BhutanBhutan at ChristmasChristmas is a wonderful time to visit Bhutan. There are fewer trekkers and tourists and the weather is usually crisp, clear and sunny. Our trek follows the old 'Druk 'or mule trail linking Paro with the capital Thimpu. It runs through rhododendron and pine forests, open ridge tops, yak pastures and past isolated hilltop monasteries with views of Chomolhari (7314m), and Gankar Punsum (7541m), Bhutan's highest peaks. We also have time to savour the culture and traditions of this 'Land of the Thunder Dragon' and spend time in both Paro and Thimpu meeting local people and taking in the classic sights including a hike up to the cliffhanging Taktsang Monastery and an overnight trip to Punakha Dzong, the ancient capital of Bhutan.
