Trekking in Slovakia

High Level Tatras

This exhilarating mountain holiday takes you into the magnificent scenery of the High Tatras. It follows a network of mountain footpaths linking comfortable, catered chalets set in panoramic surroundings. With chain assisted scrambling this at times strenuous, but rewarding trek reaches some of Slovakia's highest peaks. A head for heights is certainly required but the scrambling with some short exposed sections is nowhere too difficult.

We include Rysy (2499m) on the Polish Slovak border, famed locally as the peak climbed by Lenin in 1913 and the dramatic Jahnaci Stit (2229m) first climbed by British traveller Robert Townson in 1793.

There is also an opportunity to climb Gerlachovsky (2655m), the highest peak in the Carpathians, an airy roped scramble, using local UIAGM guides.
