The Mayan Empire

A roller coaster 'traveller's' trip through Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. The pyramids of Chichen Itza, the mystical ruins of Palenque, lakes, volcanoes and markets in Guatemala, and of course the Mayan temples of Tikal, a tropical island off the coast of Belize and finally back to Mexico and relaxing beaches on the Isla de Mujeres.

While it is a physically undemanding trip, the journey is ambitious and our uncensored 'no frills' style, combined with hot and humid tropical weather, the bustling towns, and the sheer energy and exuberance so typical of Latin America, may call for reserves of both stamina and equanimity.

The trip focuses on ruins, culture and the diversity of the three countries through which we travel but also includes plenty of beach time to swim, snorkel and pursue individual interests
