Our Romania trip takes us into Transylvania and the Carpathian Mountains. Still seldom visited by tourists, a journey here is like stepping back in time. Local people though do like to get into the hills and here you are more likely to meet a family in old clothes and plimsolls than a 'goretexed' group of trekkers. Romania remains an adventurous travel destination.
The Tatra Mountains, bordering Slovakia and Poland, offer splendid mountain walking in a variety of areas with forested valleys, limestone gorges and 2000m plus summits.
