Trekking in South AfricaSouth Africa is a huge country and could comfortably absorb Spain and France, Europe's two largest countries. Cape Point is over 2000kms from the Limpopo River border with Zimbabwe in the north. In 1992 it emerged back from the abyss of apartheid and began the process leading to democratic majority rule. The Rainbow nation was born and soon after 'High Places' ran its first South African walking trip in 1995. South Africa's premier mountains are the mighty Drakensberg bordering Kwazulu Natal and Lesotho, a dramatic escarpment rising to over 3000m. The walking here although demanding is second to none. Our 'Drakensberg High' holiday devotes the entire time in a south to north exploration of the 'Berg's classic day hikes. |
